Published in the “Very Best” Indian Weddings list by Maharani Weddings, the nuptials of Rupal and Sai are an emblematic example of a lavish Indian wedding set in the charming landscape of Lake Como.
Combining Indian heritage and traditions with Italian gastronomy and design, the couple
changed from romantic mint-green custom-made Indian saris for the wedding ceremony to high fashion Italian designer clothes for the party, leaving for their Vidaai on a traditional Venetian limousine boat.

Starting with a bridal henna at a private villa, a holy ceremony at Gurudwara Temple followed by welcome drinks and dinner by the lake on the first day, their wedding celebrations continued the day after with a Haldi and Chura ritual during the day and the evening Sangeet at Villa del Grumello.
Marking the beginning of the wedding celebrations and the union of two families, this feast included traditional Indian songs and dances by friends and family, which American guests joined with no hesitation, dancing their way to the Villa’s greenhouse for the afterparty, with a dancing procession led by dhol drummers. Ladies glammed themselves up at a Bangle Bar with an abundance of colorful bracelets, bangles, bindis and ankle bracelets and decorated their bodies with astounding henna designs during the traditional Mehendi ritual.
Iconic Lake Como mansion, Villa Erba, was the perfect set for a grand wedding on the third day: a dashing celebration with a variety of Indian musicians and performances combining centenary traditions with modern trends.
Starting with the traditional Baraat, grand entrance of the groom, guests were surprised by the groom’s arrival in a white vintage Porche car with a procession of dhol player.
A Milni ritual preceded the wedding ceremony with a blessing of the groom by the close relatives and union of the families. The wedding celebrations continued with music, exquisite Italian food, fireworks and a DJ set to party into the night.
