TUSCANY WEDDING VENUES
Is there possibly a more romantic destination in Italy than Tuscany? Acres upon acres of rolling golden hills, centuries old villages bursting with artistic legacy and a gastronomia that is so sensational, it is a crime not to taste every last dish. Tuscany is Italy’s alma mater - the defining school which has made the country what it is.
Where do we begin? First, the stunning views. Green and golden views stretch as far as the eye can see, with vineyards and cypress trees in neat manicured rows. Second, the towns - Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Siena are pure poetry. Red bricked and steeped in Etruscan history, think sun-filled open piazzas, world famous sights (Michaelangelo’s David and Pisa’s infamous leaning tower being just two) and an unnameable magic that will charm even the most jaded of traveller. Third, the location - set in northern central Italy on the east coast, Tuscany - or Toscana to locals - has everything; beaches to the east and mountains to the west, all bathed in golden sunshine almost 300 days a year.
Finally, no description of Tuscany could be complete without mentioning the food and wine. Like all Italian cuisine, Tuscan cooking uses simple, quality ingredients, but there is something about the traditional cucina povera that has propelled the region onto the foodie world stage. Every area will have its specialty - game in the higher regions to the west and fish based recipes on the coast, but wherever you go, you’ll find that food is worshipped.
Whatever your meal involves, from a simple plate of bread and olive oil to something much more fancy, you can be sure that quality will be king. Washed down with some of the best wines in Italy (Super Tuscans that carry their name well, Chaintis for everyday and Brunellos and Vino Nobile for a special event), every meal is a joy. If travelling with taste is how you want to discover a country, Tuscany is where to begin!
